The evening following the Acquagranda Gala, my darling husband Arthur told me that we were going to meet friends for a casual birthday dinner after a few drinks in my favorite Venetian Bar at the famed Hotel Gritti Palace.
Mark Evans and Charley Brown, Patti and David Schwartz, Nicolò Rubelli and Carlo Giordanetti, and Sandrina and Andrea Rubelli all joined, each bearing very thoughtful and beautiful gifts.
After gifts were opened, dear Sandrina asked if I had ever seen the renowned kitchens at the Gritti, and that her friend was head chef and would love for us to visit.
When the kitchen door was opened, the most delightful surprise was revealed. A table for 10 set in the kitchens’ cellar and exhibition kitchen.
Sandrina and Arthur had designed an elaborate series of dishes focused on my favorite culinary passion: Tartufo Bianco d’Alba.
Worlds fail to describe the ensuing delight or to calculate the caloric count of the finale offering of elaborate dolci that brought this true delight to a very festive finale.
